So i dont think i am the first person to want potions, but before you lock the post, read ahead.

Just like at pvp, i think we should be able to buy potion ingredients. But a big concern is that people will use splash potions to kill people at spawn. Solution? Disable spider eyes, just like lava buckets. I am absolutely positive that you can make it so that spiders dont drop spider eyes. I also think that spider eyes should function as lava buckets do, so the only way to trade them is to put them in a chest, and if they fall on the floor they cannt be picked up, or thrown. Since spider eyes have no nutritional value of worth, and they dont create helpful potions, i think this could work :D

Or or or, you can set it up at the deity shop to buy the potions?

Makes sense. An unattainable item added to the unattainable item shop? Amazing.

Ngen's suggestion makes more sense. If it's a choice between adding a core game mechanic with obviously needed limitations, or just putting it really expensive in the shop so no one buys it anyway, then it's really an easy choice in my eyes.

To disable the splash potions, why not just disable gunpowder? It literally serves no purpose anyway, except to denote how many creepers may have been killed.

Or just block the effects of negative potions.

    Not all effects are harmful.
You never know, gunpowder could get and actual use later on.

Hence why I suggested to only block the negative (harmful) potion effects.

An*, you're welcome. Also, I believe Mojang has stated it will be ceasing addition of new items and abilities in the future, unless I just completely misread that article.

Well, if we think that way we should not remove spider eyes neither, maybe it'll get an actual use later on. ^^

I thought of removing gunpowder too to allow potion brewing but now I see disabling spider eyes will do better: If we disable gunpowder, and spider eyes continues, players would not make splash potions, but still could make poisons and harmful potions to himself (I don't see why), we'd be free from powder but spider eyes would stay in our chests; If we disable spider eyes, no harmful potions are made and we still could make splash potions, which can be used in groups and more, that way we'd also remove all spider eyes from chests and find use to gunpowder.
    Win - Win xD

To add to what Driver_X has said, it would ultimately make the most sense to disable brewing with gunpowder instead of spider eyes. Without gunpowder, the only person it will affect is the one who drinks it. If a person wants to brew a harmful potion, cool. If they want to drink that potion, then they should know what they're getting into. I think it would be the equivalent of walking into a cactus or jumping off the Admin Tower. If you're dumb enough to do it, you deserve what you get.

    Problem?
